Trunking Communication

Standard TETRA (TErrestrial Trunked RAdio) has been developed by working group of the European institute of telecommunication standards (ETSI) within the limits of project ETSI Project TETRA for use in Europe (till April, 1997 the name of technology Trans European Trunked Radio). TETRA is the open international digital standard of a professional mobile radio communication, intended for creation of the equipment of the professional mobile radio systems often named trunking.

The specifications of the standard are accessible to all, and any producer can produce such equipment. The equipment is compatible with TETRA equipment from different producers. Standard TETRA was developed taking into account the requirements of public safety services and law enforcement organizations (they accept active participation in association TETRA MoU which unites users, operators and producers of the equipment of this standard), therefore the special attention in its specifications has been given to such aspects of a safety of communication, as encryption of the information, authentication of subscribers, unapproved access protection. Moreover, the standard allows an application of own, departmental protection method for transparent encryption.

Today the TETRA networks are developed in a greater part of the European countries and in other parts of the world (in 2003 in the world there are more than 320 contracts for networks construction by this technology). According to the statement of Eurocommission, TETRA becomes the important part of development of mobile radiocommunications in Europe and in the future will take the place of still operating various analog networks trunking and conventional communication as once GSM has substitute for analog cellular standards NMT and TACS.

The main users of trunking systems - security services and emergency, municipal and transport (including the airports) services, the oil- and gas-producing companies, the mining enterprises, etc.

Features:

  • Trunking network fundamentally differs from cellular.
  • The opportunity of work of users outside of an operative range of base stations and other elements of an infrastructure, that is in a mode of a direct communication (DMO).
  • Provides data and speech transfer in following modes: short messages (SDS), channels commutation and applications commutation. So, standard allows to organize access to Internet under IP with use of services TCP/IP, e-mail, browsing, files transfer, WAP, telemetry, mobile objects monitoring, video images transfer.

TETRAPOL is a digital standard of a professional mobile radio communication. Technology TETRAPOL is used for a wide range of consumers (military, special civil services, services of public safety, commercial and industrial sectors: transport, logistics, etc.)and provide an operative voice communication and data transmission.

Application: unification of a networks infrastructure, interaction ensuring with networks of the general using, protection ensuring of the information in networks.

  • Base station: capacity 25, 16, 6, 2,5 and 1 Watt
  • Mobile station: capacity 2 Watt
  • Manpack station: capacity 5 Watt
  • Frequency-dividing channeling: 12,5 or 10 kHz

Forms of communication

  • group call, organization of subscribers groups, open channel, broadcasting call, urgent summons, data transmission in a batch mode, a message transfer mode or call setup;
  • the standard of radio interface TETRAPOL is optimized with the purpose to provide very fast access to channels at an call setup, including synchronization of the encryption equipment. TETRAPOL uses the optimized codec for work in conditions of the increased noise;
  • priority assignment and resource control in a combination to support of the open channel that provides constant availability of system;
  • the controller interface standardization and an opportunity of groups/brigades control providing;
  • multilevel structure offering, including a reservation mode;
  • an emergency call, the emergency open channel and an emergency direct mode providing;
  • signal condition, messages, access by TCP/IP, a batch mode and the interface without call setup providing;
  • the services in large quantities;
  • security measures;
  • roaming between various networks by means of intersystem interfaces and SIM cards accordance (interaction with GSM, TETRA, MPT 1327);
  • locks to such networks, as PSTN, ISDN, PDN accordance.

Features: To avoid the traffic analysis by taps, the transient identification of the terminal appointed by a network, instead of the true address is used. The signalling system is enciphered, even pure speech is extremely difficult for deciphering.
